The following slides were presented at the 2024 DePIN Summit.
While most people have heard of Bittensor, few actually understand what's going on beneath the surface at the subnet level.
At the beginning of my talk at the DePIN summit, I polled the audience and found that around 70% had heard of Bittensor. But when I asked how many knew what was happening within the network, maybe ~3% of people raised their hand.
This lack of awareness is an issue that both the community and subnet teams need to tackle. We need more visibility into what these subnet teams are building and achieving. Blog posts, marketing materials, going on podcasts, and active social media presence can all help bridge this gap.
This increased visibility will help attract new subnet owners, miners, and investors. Right now, finding information on what subnets are doing often requires digging through Discord channels, which is a pain in the ass.
Part of the reason for this disconnect is likely due to the current incentive structure. Subnet owners mainly focus on informing the top validators about their project’s status to secure network emissions. But with dTAO on the horizon, subnet teams will need to shift towards marketing to the masses. Those who start now will be ahead of the curve when dTAO rolls out.
Now, onto the slides, which provide a high-level overview of Bittensor and highlight what the ecosystem has achieved so far.

I kinda new all this since going all-in 2022 but you articulated it best.
